What is Booky?

How to play Booky

Reading the feedback
Each guess is graded letter by letter. Purple means the letter is in the word and in the correct position; yellow means it is in the word but somewhere else; grey means it is not in the word. The help panel explains these states with FATED, COURT, and BLADE. A wrong guess uses one of your six rows. There is no timer, score, or penalty beyond the row you spent. The statistics panel records your total plays, win percentage, current and longest streak, and the row on which each win occurred.
The theme concerns the solution, not your guesses. Any five-letter word is accepted as a guess, so you can probe with your usual test words. Once the grid narrows, let the genre bias your shortlist. The answer belongs to a romantasy novel, and words like FATED, COURT, and BLADE represent the register to think in.
Purple and yellow do different work. Purple locks a letter to its square, while yellow both confirms the letter and forbids the square you just tried it in. Move that letter elsewhere on the next row.
The hint is free in the only currency the game keeps. Seeing today's book leaves your streak and statistics untouched, so open it before you burn the sixth row rather than after. Save your stats with an email address if the streak matters to you. It also switches on a daily reminder.
