What is Clu3?
Clu3 is a daily riddle game that presents three clues in three formats: a word, an emoji, and an image. Each puzzle follows a named mechanic that defines how the clues relate to the answer. The game cycles through five mechanics (Reversal, Double Meaning, Part for Whole, Emotion Behind, The Witness), and the intro card announces which one applies that day and where it falls in the rotation.
How to play Clu3
- Read the mechanic on the intro card before the round begins.
- Close the card and examine the first clue, which is a single word.
- Type your answer using the keyboard.
- Each incorrect guess unlocks the next clue: first the emoji, then the image. A three-step track at the top shows which clues are visible.
- Submit your final answer within three attempts. Your badge depends on how many clues you needed.
Read each clue according to the mechanic shown on the intro card.
The daily mechanic determines how to interpret the clues before you see them. With Reversal, the clues point opposite the truth. With Part for Whole, each clue represents a fragment rather than the full picture. The same three cards can mean different things under different mechanics, so identifying the active rule is often more useful than recognizing individual images or words.
Answers are always nouns
The help panel says every answer must be a noun: a person, place, or thing. Verbs and adjectives are never correct. A near-miss spelling triggers a “Check your spelling” prompt and does not consume an attempt.
Badges reflect efficiency
Clu3 awards four badges based on performance. Word Smith appears when the word alone was sufficient. Emoji Whisperer indicates the emoji was required. Last Second means all three clues were used. Unfinished Business marks a failure. The result grid can be shared to compare how many clues different players needed.
Tips for fewer clues
The announced mechanic is the strongest hint available. It defines the relationship between clues and answer, not just the content of each clue. Eliminate verbs and adjectives immediately, since answers are always nouns. A typo costs nothing if the word is close, so guess freely when confident. The five-mechanic cycle repeats, so a few days of play reveal the full repertoire and its order.
