What is ClueCrush?
ClueCrush gives you sixteen words to sort into four groups of four. Each group is linked by a hidden connection. Alongside the daily puzzle, the site has an archive of more than 600 grids, a grid creator that players can use, themed collections by named authors, Staff Picks, a Timed Mode toggle, and a Pro subscription tier.
How to play ClueCrush
When the grid loads, close the tutorial window and email signup panel. Select four words that seem connected, then tap Submit to check your guess. Continue until you solve all four groups, while keeping track of your remaining mistakes. Use Shuffle to rearrange the board or Deselect to clear an accidental selection.

ClueCrush keeps the classic four-group board and adds several ways to play, along with extra puzzle collections:
The Daily Puzzle is the day’s numbered grid, reached through Play Today’s Puzzle. Play Random Puzzle opens a grid outside the daily rotation. Above the board, a toggle for Timed Mode sits beside an AI-Crafted tag.
The Archive tab contains the full collection of 600+ grids and is available on the free plan. Create opens the grid creator, where published collections show their authors. Collections are themed sets of eight grids, with Staff Picks displaying play counts.
The free plan includes limited hints, the full archive, and ongoing games. Pro removes ads and adds unlimited hints, advanced stats, exclusive grids, streak freezes, and custom themes for $2.99 per month or $19.99 per year.
Reading the feedback
The board shows two counters: groups found out of four and mistakes remaining. The instructions say you get four mistakes, but the board counter reads “Mistakes remaining: 3.” Below the grid are buttons for Shuffle, Deselect, and Color, followed by a discussion thread.
Tips for sorting groups
If four words look obviously connected, use Shuffle before making a selection. A new arrangement can break the initial association and help you avoid wasting a mistake on a false connection.
Close the tutorial and email-capture popups before you begin. Otherwise, dismissing one can accidentally select a word.
The themed collections contain eight grids on the same subject, so they provide more puzzles after you finish the daily one.

No. You can open the daily puzzle without signing in, although the page still shows prompts to create an account.
How many mistakes are allowed?
