What is ClueDay?

ClueDay is a daily word-guessing game structured as a detective case. Each day presents a numbered case with a mystery word and five clues. The first clue appears on the homepage. Additional clues unlock only when you submit a wrong guess, creating a trade-off between help and efficiency.

How to play ClueDay

  1. Read the first clue displayed with the case number and date on the homepage.
  2. Type your guess using the on-screen keyboard and press ENTER to submit.
  3. Each incorrect guess fills a row on the grid and reveals the next clue automatically.
  4. Continue guessing until you identify the mystery word.
  5. Track your progress through the clue counter, which shows how many clues you have used out of five.

Clues cost mistakes

ClueDay does not give away its five clues for free. The only way to unlock the next clue is to submit a wrong answer. This mechanism turns each guess into a decision: solve it now with limited information or accept a mistake to gain more context. The clue counter shows both your remaining help and your visible score, making efficiency part of the challenge.

Modes and case archive

The game offers a daily Case of the Day, signed with the author's initials and numbered in sequence. A Training Case walks new players through the interface step by step, demonstrating how guesses unlock clues. Past Cases are available through a footer link, allowing you to replay earlier puzzles. No account is required to play the daily case.

Strategy for fewer clues

A wrong guess is not a total loss since it purchases the next clue, but it does appear on your counter and affects how others see your result. If you feel uncertain, weigh whether the current clues give enough context or whether one more hint would be worth the trade. The training case is useful for understanding how the grid and keyboard interact before committing to the daily puzzle.
