What is Confuzle?
Confuzle is a daily word-untangling puzzle. Each puzzle presents one mixed grid of letters that belong to two related words. Players sort every letter into the two words so that both spell correctly. New Easy, Medium and Hard puzzles appear every day.
How to play Confuzle
- Look at the grid of letter tiles and the two empty word slots below it. The words share a theme that links them.
- Drag a letter from the grid onto Word 1 or Word 2, or drop it to the left or right of letters already placed to set its position. If a word is full, the other letters shift and the last one returns to the grid.
- Alternatively, tap a letter in the grid so it lifts, then tap the word slot where you want it to go. Tap a letter already inside a word to insert the new one and shift the rest right.
- Rearrange freely: drag letters back from a word into any empty grid slot, or reorder tiles inside the grid itself.
- When both slots form complete words, check the answer. A wrong guess costs one star but does not end the puzzle. Shared letters can be used for either word.
- Use the single available hint if needed; it reveals the connecting theme. Finish the puzzle, then share the result or move to another difficulty for the same day.
Difficulty levels and scoring
Easy puzzles use two four-letter words. Medium puzzles use two five-letter words. Hard puzzles use words of uneven lengths. Each puzzle begins with five stars. One star is lost for every incorrect check, one for using the hint, and one for exceeding the target time. The calendar on the home screen marks which days and difficulties have been completed.
Tips for cleaner solves
Focus first on the theme rather than individual letters. Once the shared idea is clear, the letter groups become easier to separate. Shared letters can be assigned to either word, so test both placements before locking a sequence. Wrong checks only reduce the star count; they leave the board intact so further rearrangements remain possible. Keep sessions short: most puzzles take under a minute once the theme is recognised.
