What is Crossflip?
Crossflip is a daily word puzzle that uses double-sided tiles in a grid. Each tile shows a different letter on each face, so every row and column can form two valid words: one matches the theme displayed above the grid, the other is a decoy. The goal is to flip tiles to reveal the themed words while keeping the flip count as low as possible.
How to play Crossflip
Read the theme above the grid. It tells you which of the two possible words in each row is real.
Tap a tile to change its letter. Check how that change affects the word crossing it in the column.
Try to finish the grid in fewer flips than the Par number beside the Flips counter.
Use Show Timer if you want to track your time. The timer is off by default.
Each row accepts two valid dictionary words, but only one fits the theme. The other is a trap. A correct-looking word means nothing if it ignores the theme. Check every row against the theme before committing flips. The letters are already present, so this puzzle rewards logic over vocabulary recall.
Flipping one tile affects two words
A tile sits at the intersection of a row and a column. Flipping it to fix one word may break the crossing word, which is why the Par matters. The Par sets the flip benchmark for each day's grid. Staying at or below Par requires planning which tiles to change and in what order.
Tips for efficient solving
Look for rows where only one tile could produce the themed word. Resolve those first to anchor the grid. If a flip breaks a crossing word, check whether that crossing word also violates its own theme. Sometimes a chain of flips is unavoidable, but the theme guides which direction to take.
Avoid flipping a tile just because one word looks wrong. Confirm that the alternative matches the theme and does not cascade into more flips elsewhere. The game tracks your flip count in the header alongside the day's grid number and Par.
Daily mode and timer options
Crossflip releases one numbered grid per day with its own theme and Par. The interface includes a Show Timer link if you want to measure speed, but no timer appears until you activate it. Progress is saved locally in the browser.
