What is Cyphr?
Cyphr is a daily pyramid word puzzle where each tile displays a number that represents a letter. Players work from the top of the pyramid downward, guessing letters one at a time to form words in each row. Every midnight a new puzzle appears with a new set of words and a fresh random number-to-letter mapping.
How to play Cyphr
- Start at the top tile and note the number shown on each tile.
- Guess which letter corresponds to each number. The same number always maps to the same letter throughout the entire pyramid.
- Enter one letter at a time. You do not need to guess letters in the order they appear in the word.
- When you guess correctly, the tile turns green and the number remains visible in the corner as a reference.
- Complete each row to unlock the next row. The puzzle ends when all words are revealed.
- You have up to 26 incorrect guesses. Use the Practice Round to learn the interface.
Modes
Daily puzzle (core)
A new Cyphr puzzle each day at midnight. Each daily puzzle uses different words and a new random number-to-letter assignment.
Practice Round
A separate practice puzzle to try the mechanics without affecting your daily progress.
Hard Mode
The number reminder in a correctly guessed tile disappears when you guess the next tile, adding extra challenge.
Understanding the feedback
A correct guess turns the tile green and keeps the number visible in the corner. In hard mode, that number reminder disappears when you correctly guess the next tile. Completing a word unlocks the next row. The game allows a maximum of 26 incorrect guesses.
Tips for solving
Use revealed letters to deduce others. You can guess letters in any order within a word, so look for patterns across multiple tiles with the same number.
Start at the top as instructed. The pyramid unlocks row by row, so top-down progress is required.
Try the Practice Round first. It helps you understand the mapping and feedback system before tackling the daily puzzle.
