What is Flux Grid?
Flux Grid is a word-clearing puzzle played on a yellow four-by-four tile board. You link adjacent letters, including diagonals, to form words that remove their own tiles. The goal is to clear the entire grid within a daily move budget displayed at the top of the screen.
How to play Flux Grid
- Click a starting letter, then continue onto a neighboring tile. Diagonals count as adjacent. Selected tiles turn teal, show their order, and connect with a line.
- Review the current word above the grid. Tap Submit to validate it or Clear to cancel the selection.
- Repeat until all sixteen tiles are gone. The banner shows tiles cleared and moves played against the day's target.
- Use Undo, Compact, or Reset during the round. Tap I Give Up to end the game early.
Why the demolition order matters
The challenge comes from sequencing. You can spot two or three obvious words immediately, but playing them often leaves isolated consonants you cannot shift. Stronger players look at the grid in reverse, planning which letters should end up together, and that approach turns the puzzle into a spatial problem rather than a vocabulary test.
Reading the feedback
There is no color code judging individual letters. Each valid word simply removes its tiles from the grid. The true feedback is the move counter at the top of the screen, shown against the day's budget.
Modes
Daily Puzzle
The day's 4×4 grid, identical for everyone. It is the default open mode.
Themed 5×5
A twenty-five-tile grid with a daily theme. The page specifies that only theme words are accepted, no hints are given, and the leaderboard is separate from the 4×4.
Speed Streak
A sudden-death mode unlocked by finishing the daily in under sixty seconds. The first round gives sixty seconds, subsequent rounds give thirty, and a failed round ends the streak for the day.
Challenge Friends
An invitation link on the home screen to race multiple players on the same grid, without creating an account.
Tips for fewer moves
Diagonals count, which completely changes how you read the board. A letter stuck in the corner is still connected to three neighbors and can act as a pivot.
The displayed objective is not a score but a move budget. The page asks you to clear the 4×4 board in as few moves as possible. A long word that leaves four orphaned letters scattered costs more than a medium word that keeps the rest connected.
Three tools—Undo, Compact, and Reset—remain accessible during a round. The page only states they carry no time penalty in the Speed Streak description, not for the Daily Puzzle.
