What is Fluxis Redux?
Fluxis Redux is a daily word game that builds a closed loop of connected words. It is an homage to the original Fluxis created by Caleb Madison, discontinued by The Atlantic, and refined by players on r/wordgames.
How to play Fluxis Redux
- Begin with the given seed word that starts and ends the chain.
- Enter a word that follows the rule shown for that step and begins with the ending letters of the word above it.
- Continue for the remaining slots so the final word loops back to the seed and closes the circuit.
- Larger letter overlaps between consecutive words raise the score. Y always counts in the player’s favor.
- A new puzzle appears at midnight New York time for everyone at the same moment. The ring stays red where any link is incomplete and turns blue when the full loop holds.
Scoring and feedback
Score is based on the strength of the letter overlaps that form the chain. A Fluxometer shows a target value; the machine’s best score for the day is displayed for comparison. Once the chain is complete, the result can be copied for sharing, including a version with the words hidden.
Tips
Focus on both the category rule and the required letter overlap at the same time. A word that satisfies the rule but fails to connect properly does not close the link. Because each daily puzzle is fixed and shared, progress is local to the browser session until the chain is finished and shared.
