What is Letroso?
Letroso is a word-guessing game where you search for a hidden word of unknown length, up to ten letters. Unlike standard games that judge each letter independently, Letroso encodes answers in both tile color and tile arrangement. Grouped tiles indicate consecutive letters in the solution, separated tiles show correct letters with gaps between them, and the feedback can reveal the word's beginning or ending in a single line.
How to play Letroso
- Select Daily game from the home screen, or choose Unlimited mode for continuous play.
- Submit a word without knowing the target length. The game accepts words up to ten letters.
- Examine the returned line in two stages: first the tile colors, then how tiles are grouped or spaced apart.
- Use confirmed blocks from the feedback to guide your next guess. Adjacent tiles in the feedback appear adjacent in the answer.
- Continue refining until you reconstruct the word's structure and solve the puzzle.
Reading the feedback structure
Color marks letter status. Green confirms a letter in the word, midnight blue shows absence, and yellow indicates presence in the wrong position. Shape indicates adjacency. When tiles appear glued together, those letters are consecutive in the answer. When tiles are separated, they appear in the correct order but with other letters between them. A single line can lock both the word's start and end, narrowing the search space instantly.
Game modes
The Daily game posts a new puzzle each day, with a date strip showing the current week. Unlimited mode, marked by an infinity icon, generates words on demand. Previous games opens a calendar view of past dailies. Progress is stored locally in the browser.
Strategy notes
The unknown length means early guesses serve two purposes: testing letters and framing the word size. Prioritize guesses that confirm or rule out common letter clusters. Adjacent tiles are worth more than isolated green letters because they give you a fixed segment. When a line reveals the word's beginning or ending, use that anchor to eliminate implausible candidates. The tutorial can be reopened at any time via the help button and is worth reviewing, as Letroso's visual grammar is denser than a simple colored grid.
