What is Letterinth?
Letterinth is a daily word-maze puzzle that hides a literary quotation inside a grid of letters. The maze appears immediately when you open the page, with black squares breaking up the letter pattern. Your task is to trace a path through the grid that spells out the hidden message. The author and source work are displayed beneath the grid before you start, giving context for the quotation you need to find.
How to play Letterinth
The quotation is announced rather than hidden; you need to find its route through the grid.
- Open the page to load the day’s maze, with its title, date, and attribution line already visible.
- Examine the letter grid and note the black squares that block certain paths.
- Use the given author and work to trace a route through adjacent letters that forms the quotation.
- If you are unsure where to start or how to continue, use the HINT button.
- HOW TO PLAY includes a demonstration grid showing how letters connect and how black squares act as barriers.
- Visit the LIBRARY to revisit past mazes.
The attribution line beneath the grid names the author and work before you begin solving. This is deliberate context, not a spoiler. Knowing the source helps you recognize the quotation's style, era, and likely vocabulary as you search for the correct path. The challenge is finding the text in the maze, not guessing which author wrote it.
Tips for tracing the path
Start by reading the title and attribution carefully. The author's voice and the work's tone can guide which letter sequences make sense as you move through the grid. Black squares are barriers, so look for natural entry points where the quotation might begin. If a path produces nonsense, backtrack and try an adjacent route rather than forcing a dead-end direction.
