What is Letterly?
Letterly is a daily word game based on the paper game baccalauréat. Each day at midnight UTC, one letter and ten categories are drawn worldwide. Everyone plays the same round with a ninety-second timer. The twist is in the scoring: originality beats correctness. Common answers earn few points, rare answers can reach one hundred, and the system compares your choices against both a baseline of typical responses and what other players submit that day.
How to play Letterly
Start the daily round from the home screen. The day’s letter appears when the round begins. You have 90 seconds to enter one answer for each category, and every answer must start with that letter. Submit when you finish or wait for the timer to expire. Answers with the wrong initial letter and blank fields score zero.
Review your results after the round. Each answer receives one of five originality labels: UNIQUE, RARE, UNCOMMON, COMMON, or INVALID. Collect your emoji card at the end and share its ten colored squares, your score, and your streak without revealing the actual words.
Scoring and feedback
Each valid answer earns points based on how rarely other players choose it. UNIQUE answers approach one hundred points, while COMMON answers give minimal credit. A twenty-point bonus applies when all ten answers are valid. Invalid answers include empty boxes or words that do not start with the correct letter. The shared card shows originality through colored squares rather than text, keeping your strategy private.
Strategy tips
The first word that comes to mind usually scores poorly. The system penalizes obvious choices because it compares against a database of common answers and current player submissions. Fill every box when possible; a banal valid answer beats an empty one and preserves the no-mistake bonus. The ninety-second limit applies to all ten categories together, so skip a stubborn category and return if time allows. You get one attempt per day per device, so scan all categories before committing your first answers.

The game stores streaks locally on your device and offers optional email connection to sync progress across devices. No account is required to play.
