What is Linxicon?
Linxicon is a semantic word-chain puzzle from Trainwreck Labs. You must join two corner words in as few steps as possible by adding words similar enough in meaning to create links in a graph. One pair is published daily, with unrestricted practice available.
How to play Linxicon
- Read the two corner words you need to connect.
- Add a word that is semantically similar to a word already in the graph.
- Keep adding linked words until a chain joins the two corner words, aiming to use as few words as possible.
Reading the feedback
When an added word does not make a link, Linxicon explains that it is too dissimilar to the graph's existing words. A connection needs cosine similarity above 40%, and the sidebar can show similarity information. The game ends if the board reaches 50 words before the corner words are joined. After 25 words, a Clue button can suggest a word another player used to win.
Modes
Daily puzzle: One new pair of corner words is available each day.
Practice: Practice has no stated limit, but clues are not available in Practice mode.
Tips for efficient chains
Build outward as a chain rather than repeatedly attaching many words to one central word. The FAQ warns that crowded hubs can cause links to fail or break.
Use the sidebar similarity information after adding a word to understand why a prospective connection worked or failed.
Keep the 50-word board limit in mind. If you reach 25 words in the daily puzzle, the clue can offer a proven route ingredient.
