What is Parafraze Daily?

Parafraze Daily is an audio-based daily word challenge. Players listen to spoken clues and type the word or phrase those clues describe. Each edition consists of multiple timed cards released once per day.

How to play Parafraze Daily

  1. Open the daily edition and turn sound on, or enable captions if preferred.
  2. Listen to the spoken clue for the current card.
  3. Type your guess before the timer ends. Exact matches score full points; close spelling receives half credit and can be corrected for the remaining points.
  4. Press Next to move to the following card. The timer continues if you leave mid-card.
  5. Complete every card in the edition. Only one attempt is allowed per edition and results are saved in the current browser.
  6. Track personal best, average score, current streak, and longest streak after finishing. Streaks require completing the timed edition on its release day according to New York time. Archive editions can still update a personal best.

Scoring and modes

Each card begins at 100 points and holds that value until two seconds after the main clue finishes, then declines toward 50. Certain clues use a fixed 12-second window. A complete miss scores zero. Close spelling awards half credit; correcting the answer restores the full amount for that card.

Relaxed Mode removes the clock. Exact answers still earn 100 points and close spelling earns 50, yet those scores are excluded from statistics and records. Enable the option before starting if a pressure-free session is preferred.

Tips and practical notes

Sound or captions are essential because the clues are delivered orally. Familiarity with common paraphrases and near-miss spellings improves speed and accuracy. Because only one attempt exists per edition, review the full clue before submitting. Progress and statistics remain local to the browser, so consistent use of the same device preserves streaks and history. Archive play is available for earlier dates and can establish or raise a personal best without affecting the current streak.
