What is Squaredle?
Squaredle presents a grid of letters and asks you to find every word hidden within it. Words are formed by swiping through adjacent tiles in any direction or by typing and pressing Enter. A side panel tracks your progress by word length, and each board carries a difficulty rating out of five stars. A separately tracked Bonus Word of the Day appears alongside the main list.
How to play Squaredle
- Check the difficulty stars and word counts before you begin to gauge how long the board will take.
- Trace a word by swiping through adjacent letters in any direction, or type it and press Enter. Use Backspace to delete and Esc to cancel.
- Monitor the per-length counters rather than the total count. They show which word sizes still have missing entries.
- Use reveals sparingly and save the Bonus Word for last, since it is tracked separately from the main list.
Why Squaredle differs from other word games
The live counter changes the experience. In most word games, finding the answer ends the round. Squaredle tells you that ten six-letter words remain and sends you back into the hunt. The grid stays open, the missing tallies do not move until you earn them, and the last handful of sevens and eights can reveal that a board you thought was finished still has more to find. The difficulty rating on each board tells you what you are taking on. This is a completionist’s daily, not a two-minute puzzle.
Reading the feedback
The word list is the feedback. Each length has its own heading with a running counter beneath it showing how many words remain. The header displays the total words found out of words on the board. A limited reveal budget sits above the list, and each length offers a link to reveal a random word at that length. The Bonus Word appears masked, with a share action that trades a post for a hint.
Modes
Today: The day's board, rated for difficulty, with its full word list and reveal budget.
Yesterday: A tab beside Today that reopens the previous day's grid.
Bonus Word of the Day: A separate masked word, hinted through a share action, tracked apart from the main count.
Tips and strategy
Work the long words first. The four-letter words arrive on their own while you hunt sevens and eights, but the reverse is not true. The longest words are what turn a finished-looking board into an unfinished one.
Adjacency is generous. Swipes run in any direction, diagonals included, so a letter cluster that looks stranded in a corner usually is not.
The hint panel unlocks on its own schedule, at 3pm US Pacific or once you have cleared enough of the board. A board you cannot finish now may be finishable later the same day.
Common questions
How many words are in a board? It varies by day. Words run from four letters up to eight, with the count shown in the header from the start.
Do I have to swipe, or can I type? Either. Swipes run in any direction across adjacent tiles, and a keyboard works too. Enter submits, Backspace deletes, Esc cancels.
Can I get help when I am stuck? Yes, within limits. Each board carries a small number of reveals, and a hint panel opens once you have cleared enough of the grid or at 3pm US Pacific.
Can I play a day I missed? Yesterday's board sits in a tab beside today's, so the most recent one stays reachable.
