What is Swordle?
Swordle is a daily Star Wars word game that expands the standard Wordle format to include digits and hyphens, allowing droid serial numbers and other alphanumeric identifiers as valid answers. The grid uses six rows of five squares, and everything appears in a galactic typeface. Two symbol keys flank the bottom row of the keyboard.
How to play Swordle
- Enter a five-character guess with the on-screen keyboard, which contains letters, the digits 0–9, and a hyphen.
- Submit the guess and use the tile colors to see which characters match the target and which are in the correct positions.
- Use the red symbol key on the left or the green symbol key on the right when you need special characters.
- Open settings with the gear icon in the top right. The bars icon beside it shows your statistics.
- Solve the daily word or serial number within six attempts.
Reading the feedback
Green marks a character in the correct position. The game stores each cell state in the browser, so your progress persists across sessions. One setting automatically carries correctly placed letters forward from one attempt to the next, reducing repetitive typing. A colorblind mode, a plain text mode, and an Aurebesh mode are available in the preferences.
Why the expanded keyboard matters
The hyphen and ten digits occupy an entire keyboard row because they are part of the answer space. Serial numbers count as words here, shifting the puzzle from a dictionary exercise to an encyclopedia challenge. The game uses this expanded character set regularly, not as decoration.
Tips for solving efficiently
Recognize that digits and hyphens appear in real answers. If you ignore the top row of the keyboard, you cut off a significant portion of possible solutions. Droid designations and other alphanumeric identifiers are fair game.
The Aurebesh display option replaces Latin letters with Star Wars script, which can make reading harder or more immersive depending on your familiarity. The plain mode removes stylized fonts if they cause eye strain.
Check the colorblind mode in the settings if the default colors are difficult to distinguish. It is behind the gear icon, not a toggle on the grid itself.
