What is Trilogy?
Trilogy shows three circles in a row: a word on the left, a question mark in the middle, and a word on the right. Find the middle word that combines with both outer words to make two compound words or common phrases. For example, BACK → GROUND → WATER gives background and groundwater.
How to play Trilogy
Look at the two outer words and count the dashes beneath them to determine the length of the missing word. Type your answer in the field labeled “TYPE MIDDLE WORD…” and select SUBMIT GUESS. The button shows how many attempts remain.
If you are stuck, tap the buoy to reveal one random letter of the missing word.
The opening puzzle carries the label LEVEL 1: EASY, signaling that the day includes multiple rounds. You receive three buoys for the entire daily run, not per puzzle. Each level increases the challenge, requiring you to manage your hints carefully across all stages.
Reading the feedback
The remaining attempt count appears on the submit button itself. Dashes under the circle row represent the target word, one dash per letter. The combination of dash count and any revealed buoy letters guides your guessing strategy.
Tips for finding the middle word
Count the dashes before using a buoy. Knowing the word length often narrows the options faster than a single random letter. The dash count is always visible and costs nothing.
Test your candidate word in both directions. It must complete the phrase on the left and start the phrase on the right, like GROUND in background and groundwater. If either direction fails, the word is wrong.
Accept both compound words and common phrases. The rules do not require glued-together words only. FIRE might pair with BALL and WORK to make fireball and firework, or it might create two-word phrases depending on the puzzle.
