What is Vendy?
Vendy is a daily word puzzle built around a Venn diagram. The diagram hides two words: blue letters appear only in the first word, pink letters only in the second, and purple letters in both. Each day has three grids—Easy, Medium, and Hard—with a theme above each diagram. Identify both words before the timer runs out.
How to play Vendy
- Choose one of the three daily grids: E, M, or H.
- Use the diagram to determine which letters belong to the first word, the second word, or both.
- Enter your answer with the keyboard or by tapping letters on the diagram.
- Submit your guess. The timer keeps running after a wrong answer.
- Use the Hint button if you need help. It adds ten seconds to your time.
Each day brings three separate puzzles under different themes. Easy, Medium, and Hard appear as independent challenges, each with its own set of letters and difficulty level. You can solve them in any order, and the site tracks your time for each grid separately. The theme above the diagram offers a clue about the word pair's category.
Reading the feedback
A wrong answer displays "Not quite, keep going!" below the grid while the timer keeps advancing. Your score is measured in time, not attempts. Each hint you take adds exactly ten seconds to your final result, so consider whether you need it before clicking.
Tips for faster solving
Start with the purple zone. Those letters must fit into both words at once, making them the most constrained piece of the puzzle. If you can decode the shared letters first, the blue and pink sections become easier to interpret.
Turn on "Highlight Repeat Letters" from the menu. The tutorial warns that letters can appear multiple times, and this setting shows which ones do. It removes a layer of ambiguity when you are trying to count how many of a given letter exist.
Use the theme as a filter. When the letters allow multiple readings, the displayed category above the diagram helps you choose between possible words. A theme like "Food" narrows the search space more than trying every combination.
Think before taking a hint. Ten seconds is a significant penalty when the game measures your performance in seconds. If you are close to a solution, working through the possibilities manually may be faster than accepting the time cost.
Additional modes
The site includes a creation tool called "Make a Vendy" where you type two words and generate a shareable Venn diagram. It is presented as a classroom resource. A full-screen Projector Mode is announced as coming soon, intended for teachers who want to display puzzles to a group.
The "Browse the Vault" section holds all past grids, organized by theme, subject, and difficulty. You can catch up on any puzzle you missed or replay grids you want to solve again.
