What is WordFlow?
WordFlow is a timed word chain puzzle. You start with a complete word at the top, then fill in each word below it using only the first letter as a clue. Each consecutive pair must form a common two-word expression. Every fifteen seconds the game reveals another letter automatically, and each revealed letter counts as a fault against your score.
How to play WordFlow
- Press START to begin the timer and highlight the first empty line.
- Read the word directly above the active line and identify the common expression it forms with the missing word.
- Type your answer. The first letter is already placed in each line.
- Work downward through the chain until you reach the final word.
- If stuck, either wait for the countdown or press Next Letter. Each revealed letter adds one fault to your total.
The chain works both ways
Every word connects to the one above and the one below. If you cannot solve a line from the word above, look at the initial letter of the word below it. That next word must also form a common expression with the current answer, which narrows the possibilities.
Count the letter boxes before guessing. Length eliminates many candidates and speeds up pattern recognition when you know a six-letter word cannot be the answer.
Score is measured in faults, not speed
The timer reveals another letter at a fixed interval and adds a fault each time. You will finish the chain no matter how long it takes. The challenge is to complete it with as few revealed letters as possible, so the result is a pride score rather than a pass-or-fail condition.
Pressing Next Letter costs the same as waiting for the timer to reveal the letter automatically: either way, you get one more fault. The button lets you trade thinking time for immediate progress.
Tips for fewer faults
Use length as your first filter. The number of boxes tells you exactly how many letters the word contains, ruling out half the expressions that might otherwise fit.
Read the chain in both directions when stuck. The word below the active line already shows its first letter, and that word must pair naturally with your current answer. Working backward from a known initial can unlock a stubborn line.
