What is WordReels?
WordReels is a word puzzle that replaces the keyboard with five vertical letter reels. You spin each reel to align a letter on the central selection line, forming a word beneath the reels. The constraint is simple: you can only submit what the reels allow you to align. The game adds a timer, attempt counter, score, coins, and bonus-word opportunities. A daily challenge runs separately from themed and practice modes.
How to play WordReels
- Spin each reel with the ▲ and ▼ arrows, or swipe, until a letter reaches the center line.
- Read the word displayed beneath the reels.
- Open the REEL LETTERS banner to view the letters available on the current reel. Select Hide letters to close it.
- Select Check Word to submit your answer, then review the feedback for each letter and your attempt count.
- When a round ends, spend coins on hints in practice mode.
The mechanical constraint changes the reasoning. In most word games you think of a word and type it. Here you can only submit what the five stacks allow, and a perfectly valid word may be impossible to align. The letter-reading banner turns the game into a search inside a finite space. The scoring introduces a clear trade-off: cash in bonus words for 50 points and 5 coins, or save attempts for the 60-point speed bonus per unused attempt.
Reading the feedback
The page uses per-letter feedback in green, yellow, and gray after each submission. The attempt counter, timer, score, and coins appear under the reels.
Modes
Daily Challenge
A five-letter word with six attempts, the same for all players worldwide, renewed at 00:00 UTC.
Practice
Endless grids in 4, 5, or 6 letters, with hints payable in coins. This mode does not affect the daily streak.
Themes
The header displays a numbered theme. Progress saved in the browser keeps a list of unlocked themes.
Tips for better alignment
The REEL LETTERS banner is the central tool. It shows everything the selected reel can provide, so you know what is composable before you spend an attempt.
The scoring is explicit. Each unused attempt is worth 60 bonus points. A bonus word yields 50 points and 5 coins but consumes an attempt. Chasing bonus words therefore costs the speed bonus.
Coins are earned with bonus words and pay for practice-mode hints. Build the reserve before you need it.
Common questions
When does the new daily grid drop?
At 00:00 UTC, which translates to 8:00 PM Eastern, 5:00 PM Pacific, 1:00 AM in London, and 9:00 AM in Tokyo. The daily challenge is played once per UTC day.
What are bonus words for?
They are valid words that can be formed with the available letters, other than the solution. Each awards 50 points and 5 coins but consumes an attempt.
Does practice mode break my streak?
No. Practice mode does not affect the daily streak, which depends only on the daily challenge.
