What is Allegedly?
Allegedly is a daily blind-item guessing game where players read a redacted news-style write-up and identify the celebrity behind it. Each day brings one case with a limited number of strikes. The game tracks streaks and offers multiple editions with different difficulty settings.
How to play Allegedly
- Read the redacted blind item describing an alleged celebrity incident.
- Enter your guess for the celebrity's name within the allowed strikes—three in the Daily Edition.
- Each incorrect guess unlocks a free clue automatically.
- Optionally unlock up to two additional clues that will display on your shared result.
- Solve the case before running out of strikes to maintain your streak.
Game modes and strike limits
Daily Edition gives you one case per day with three strikes. A new case appears at midnight.
Hard Mode reduces strikes to two and disables optional clues entirely.
Practice Edition lets you play extra cases without affecting your streak or stats.
Night Edition provides one bonus case after hours with two strikes and no optional clues.
Last Chance is the final state where all clues unlock for the current case.
Understanding feedback and stats
Every miss immediately reveals a free clue. Optional clues marked with ? are free but appear on your share receipt—the game describes them as costing "nothing but pride." Your progress appears in "Your Rap Sheet" with metrics including games played, win percentage, current streak, best streak, files closed, verdicts, and night wins.
Tips for solving cases
Use misses strategically. Since each wrong guess unlocks a clue, consider whether revealing more information is worth spending a strike.
Optional clues do not harm your streak, but they are visible to anyone who sees your shared result. Decide whether the extra information is worth the public acknowledgment.
Practice Edition exists for experimenting without consequences. Use it when you want to test theories or learn patterns without risking your daily streak.
