What is Brands?
Brands is the brand-logo series within Toon Tone, a free browser colour-matching game. Each round names a specific corporate shade—Coca-Cola Disc Red, Burger King Flame Orange, Samsung Blue—and gives you three vertical sliders for hue, saturation and brightness. You rebuild the colour from memory. The logo beside the sliders repaints itself live in whatever shade you are dialling. The game runs five rounds, drawing from a library of 64 studied brand colours that spans Ferrari Scudetto Yellow to Discord Blurple. The target is never shown, only named, so the exercise runs on brand recall rather than reading a swatch.
How to play Brands
- Start with the prompt, which gives the company and the shade.
- Drag the three strips to adjust the colour: use the rainbow for hue, the grey ramp for saturation, and the black ramp for brightness. The logo changes as you move them.
- If you get stuck, tap the lightbulb for a hint. It narrows the range of one slider and costs 1 point for that round.
- Press the check mark to lock in your answer. You get no second attempt.
- The result card shows your HSB, the target HSB, and an accuracy message.
- Finish all five rounds, then compare your average with today's leaderboard and the all-time leaderboard.
Reading the feedback
Each round scores from 10.00 for a perfect match down to 0.00 for pure white, with hue weighted most heavily and a small bonus for hitting it exactly. The result card displays your HSB reading against the target HSB and adds an accuracy message. A hint costs a flat 1 point on that round. Submitting is final. The summary averages the five rounds and places that average against today's leaderboard and the all-time one.
Why Brands is harder than it looks
Most players are certain they know Coca-Cola red. Five rounds here demonstrates you know the family and very little else. The scoring is specific rather than vague: your HSB and the official one side by side, and a number out of 10 computed in sRGB. Skip it if you cannot picture a logo unprompted, since nothing is there to compare against. A full five-round run takes three to five minutes and needs no signup. It suits designers, brand people and anyone who enjoys being precisely wrong.

Tips for higher scores
Brightness is the easiest place to lose points. Brand colours are made to stand out: Burger King's orange is B100, Coca-Cola red is B96, and WhatsApp green is B83. Leaving the brightness slider near the middle puts a ceiling on your score, even if the hue is right.
Saturation is usually high for the same reason. Telegram Blue is S83, Samsung Blue is S88, and Coca-Cola red is S100. Choosing a pastel-looking setting can cost you two points.
Hue has the biggest effect on the score, with a small bonus for an exact match. Set the rainbow slider first, then adjust saturation and brightness.
Corporate blues need the opposite approach. Pepsi Logo Blue, Visa Blue, and PlayStation Blue are all dark, so the vivid setting that helps with red will overshoot them.
Use the hint only when you genuinely cannot place the shade. It narrows one slider but always costs one point, so using it on a colour you already have roughly right is usually a bad trade.
After a run, open the brand study page for the shade you missed. Each one carries the logo with the target area marked plus its HEX, RGB, HSB and HSL values, which turns an abstract miss into a number you remember.
Common questions
Is Brands a separate game from Toon Tone?
No. Toon Tone runs four colour series from the same page. The Brands link opens the brand series directly, and the series switcher moves between them.
How many guesses do I get?
One guess per round, five rounds per game. Each round scores from 0.00 to 10.00 against the official sRGB value. The final result is the average of the five.
Do I need an account?
No. Playing works without one. Signing in with Google or a secure one-time email link is offered but stays optional.
Is it free?
Yes. Playing costs nothing and needs no download, account or payment. Two optional ad-free purchases sit beside it: $2.99 for 30 days, or $4.99 once for ad-free forever.
What does the hint button do?
The lightbulb narrows one slider's range so the guess cannot stray too far in the wrong direction. It subtracts 1 point from that round. Once the round is submitted there is no second attempt.
Can I share a score?
Yes. The summary produces a shareable card. Post to wall puts the score on the community wall, where a name is optional and the message comes pre-filled. Anything at 8.00 or above carries the TOP SCORER label.
