What is ColorGuesser?
ColorGuesser gives you the name of a color and asks you to locate it on a wheel. The challenge is that your interpretation of "teal" or "mauve" may differ significantly from the defined target shade.
How to play ColorGuesser
- Read the color name displayed for the round.
- Navigate around the wheel to the shade you believe matches that name.
- Lock in your selection.
- Review your accuracy measured by distance from the true value.
- Complete all five colors to finish a daily run.
Scoring and feedback
Each color awards up to 100 points based on proximity to the target, for a maximum of 500 points per run. There is no pass or fail threshold, only a measure of how close you landed to the intended shade.
Why vague names cost points
Basic colors like red produce consistent guesses across players. Ambiguous names like mauve or teal invite a wide range of interpretations, making precise placement difficult. The game has no knowledge component and requires no account, creating an even playing field where perception alone determines the result.
Tips for better accuracy
Calibrate your display before playing. Night mode or a warm screen tint shifts every guess in the same incorrect direction, compounding errors across the run.
Expect higher scores on widely recognized color names and lower scores on terms with loose definitions. The wheel measures distance in color space, so even a small misunderstanding of a name can translate to a significant point loss.
