What is Daily Time Travel?

Daily Time Travel is a vertical timeline game where you move backward through history to reach a target year. Your current position is marked "You are here!" with an event label, the goal year appears in a GOAL badge at the top, and fifty-year increments guide your progress. Each round presents two events and one question: "Which happened most recently?" One click moves you along the timeline. The interface includes a numbered, dated journey and an SVENSKA toggle for Swedish.

How to play Daily Time Travel

  1. Find your starting position on the timeline, marked by a colored indicator with its year and event.
  2. Check the GOAL badge at the top to see which year you need to reach.
  3. Read the two event cards at the bottom and click the one that happened more recently.
  4. Use the "Next →" button beneath the question to continue. The objective is to reach the target year in as few jumps as possible.

Why the timeline format works

Comparing two events is simple, but the vertical timeline transforms each choice into movement. You are not answering a static quiz; you are traveling, and the goal either draws closer or recedes. The beige page requires no account and displays no counters. That minimalism creates focus and a sense of progress tied directly to your decisions.

Reading the feedback

The page displays "CHECKING…" while verifying your choice and a "You've arrived!" panel when you complete the journey. A first-person feedback box appears at the bottom: "Found a bug? Too easy, too hard? I read everything."

Modes

Today's journey
One numbered and dated journey per day, shown at the head of the timeline.

Tips for efficient play

  • Gauge the gap first. Your marker and the GOAL badge share the same timeline, marked every fifty years. Before the first click, you can estimate whether you need to cross one century or three.
  • No timer, no attempt limit. Nothing on the screen is timed and no failure counter appears. The only measure is the number of jumps, which the game treats as the primary score.

Popular questions

Is there a new journey each day?
Yes. The journey is numbered and dated at the top of the timeline, and the site title confirms one history puzzle per day.

Can you play in another language?
Yes. An SVENSKA button in the top left switches the game to Swedish.
