What is Daily Unfold?
Daily Unfold is a spatial puzzle that tests your ability to visualize paper folding. A square sheet is folded along dashed lines, a hole is punched through all layers, and you must predict where the holes will appear when the paper is unfolded. Three puzzles arrive daily at Easy, Medium, and Hard difficulty, with increasing folds and larger grids. Completing all three unlocks a timed Expert mode with a global leaderboard.
How to play
- Study the folding sequence shown at the top. Each numbered step displays a dashed fold line, an arrow showing which half moves, shaded paper that folds over, and a final panel with the punched hole as a solid dot.
- Apply the two core rules: folds always come toward you, never away, and a punch penetrates every layer beneath it.
- Tap squares on the empty grid below to mark where you expect holes to appear on the unfolded sheet.
- Submit your answer and watch the animation unfold. Your accuracy determines star awards, with three stars for a perfect solution.
Difficulty modes
Easy uses a 4×4 grid and one fold, so a single punch makes two holes. Medium uses a 6×6 grid and two folds, producing up to four holes reflected across both axes. Hard keeps the 6×6 grid and adds a third fold, for up to eight holes. Expert unlocks after you clear all three daily boards. It runs a timer and posts your solve time, under a nickname you choose, to a public daily leaderboard. The Archive lets you replay earlier days.
Work backward through the folds
Unfold in reverse order. Start with the last fold and mirror the hole back across that axis, then work through earlier folds one at a time. Trying to picture the entire unfolding at once is where most solvers lose track. Count the number of layers the punch went through before counting holes, because layer count determines how many marks you should place. Every fold axis creates a mirror line in the final pattern, so your prediction must be symmetric across all fold lines shown in the sequence.
Why the puzzle works
Paper folding is a classic spatial visualization test, the kind that appears in aptitude assessments. Daily Unfold turns that single exam question into a daily practice. You cannot memorize patterns or calculate answers; you must rotate the image mentally or unfold it step by step. Star scoring rewards near misses instead of marking attempts as simple pass or fail, and Expert mode gives instant solvers a timed leaderboard to compete on. The Expert board appears only after completing the rest of the day's puzzles, making leaderboard entry itself a small achievement.
