What is Guess the Game?
Guess the Game asks you to name a video game from a screenshot. You begin with one intentionally obscure image and unlock a clearer shot with each wrong guess. You have six attempts total.
How to play Guess the Game
- Type a game title into the input field and submit your answer.
- Each incorrect guess reveals the next screenshot in the sequence.
- Use the Skip button if you want to move forward without submitting a guess.
- Continue until you identify the game or exhaust all six attempts.
Why the first screenshot is deliberately unhelpful
The opening image may be abstract or shot from an angle that hides recognizable landmarks. Players who have seen games from different eras and platforms will usually spot visual patterns faster than those who stick to recent releases in one genre.
The game has run for more than a thousand consecutive days, so expect a broad range of games from different periods. Familiarity with only one corner of gaming may not be enough.
A counter shows how many guesses remain. The numbered strip above the image shows which of the six screenshots you are viewing.
There is one shared Daily puzzle each day, with a countdown to the next release. The sister sites Guess The Audio, Guess The Book, Guess The Movie.Name, Guess The Logo, and Guess The House use the same reveal-by-elimination format for other types of media.
Date the screenshot before naming the game. Resolution, aspect ratio and UI design narrow the era more quickly than subject matter. A 4:3 frame with chunky pixels points to a different decade than widescreen high-definition art, and that constraint eliminates hundreds of candidates at once.

The daily puzzle is free. A paid membership removes ads and adds stats export, exclusive content, cross-device sync and direct messaging.
