Jaardle is a daily or endless history puzzle inspired by Wordle. Each round shows a historical event, and you have six attempts to guess the year it occurred. After each guess, a colored distance badge indicates how far your answer is from the correct year. You can spend points to buy optional hints. Scores range from 0 to 100.
- Enter a year with the on-screen number pad. Use the minus sign for BC dates.
- Press Enter or tap Guess to submit it.
- After each guess, check the colored badge. It shows how far your guess is from the correct year.
- Swipe through the free facts carousel for context before using points on paid hints.
- You can make up to six guesses, or stop when you find the correct year.
- Your final score starts at 100 and drops based on the number of guesses and hints you use.
Color feedback
Each badge represents a distance range. Green means the answer is exact. Purple means it is 1–2 years away, yellow 3–10, orange 11–25, red 26–50, brown 51–200, white 201–599, and black 600 or more years away. Direction arrows appear only after you buy a direction hint.
Available hints and their costs
The game offers several paid hints. Later-event reveals cost 100, 250, 500, 1,000, or 1,500 years, depending on how far ahead the event occurred. The century hint costs 20 points, the last-digit hint costs 10, and each direction hint costs 3 points. You can use up to two direction hints per round. Extra facts in the carousel are free and do not reduce your score.
Game modes
Jaardle offers two main modes. Daily mode presents one shared puzzle per day for all players. Endless mode generates random events for unlimited practice rounds. Both modes are accessible from the official game page.
Tips for higher scores
Read the two free carousel facts before purchasing any hints. They often provide enough context to narrow your range without spending points. Save expensive hints like century and last digit for later guesses when you have already gathered information from your attempts. Use direction hints sparingly since they only apply to your most recent guess and you can buy a maximum of two per round. Balance the cost of hints against the penalty for additional guesses to maximize your final score.
