What is Jigsy?
Jigsy is a daily packing puzzle played on a five-by-five grid. Grey blocked cells occupy some squares, and seven colored pieces of varying shapes must fill the remaining space. Each piece can be rotated and scaled using two controls labeled ROTATE (R) and SCALE (S).
How to play Jigsy
- Open jigsy.app/daily and press PLAY. The timer starts immediately.
- Examine the grid. Grey cells with thick outlines are blocked and cannot hold pieces.
- Select a piece from those scattered around the grid.
- Use ROTATE (R) to turn the piece and SCALE (S) to adjust its size.
- Drag the piece onto the grid. Repeat for all seven pieces until the grid is full.
- Complete the puzzle while the timer and move counter track your progress.
The SCALE control changes the genre
Most packing puzzles let you rotate pieces. Jigsy adds a second transformation. The SCALE button adjusts piece size, which means shapes can be fitted in ways rotation alone cannot achieve. This feature separates Jigsy from standard tangram or block-fitting games and requires planning around both orientation and dimension.
Reading the feedback
Jigsy measures rather than grades. The top banner shows elapsed time, move count, and the current date. The landing page displays the day's average time before you start, offering the only point of comparison. Blocked cells appear grey with thick borders. Playable cells are white. No in-game hints or error messages appear while you work.
Tips for faster solving
Use keyboard shortcuts R and S rather than clicking the round buttons. The game displays these shortcuts on the controls themselves.
Count free cells before placing large pieces. The blocked grey squares reduce the available space below twenty-five, and misjudging capacity costs moves.
Check the day's average time on the landing page. A high average signals a more complex grid.
