What is Questle?
Questle is a daily video game identification puzzle. You have ten guesses to name the game of the day by comparing seven fields: Year, Developer, Rating, Genre, Perspective, Game Mode and Platform. A blurred screenshot unlocks after five guesses and clears after eight. The site displays your current guess count, three stat counters (flame, trophy, controller), and pulls its data from IGDB.
How to play Questle
Enter a game title in the search field to make your first guess. The results row shows the year, developer, rating, genre, perspective, game mode, and platform.
Use the arrows beside Year and Rating to see whether the answer is older or newer, or has a lower or higher rating. Make more guesses to narrow down the other fields.
After five guesses, the screenshot is partly revealed as a visual clue. It becomes clear after eight guesses.
Keep guessing until you identify the game or use all ten attempts.
Green indicates an exact match, yellow means the answer is close, and gray means it is incorrect.
Year turns yellow when your guess falls within a five-year range. A down arrow means your guess is older; an up arrow means it is newer. Developer has no yellow state: a match is green, while a miss is gray.
Genre, Perspective, and Game Mode turn green only when everything matches. If at least one element matches, they turn yellow. Platform is green for the exact platform and yellow for the same console family, such as PS2 and PS4.
Use the thresholds to measure progress
The site publishes its tolerance for each field. A five-year window on Year and a five-point window on Rating let you pin down the answer with arithmetic. The Perspective field is uncommon in guessing games and makes camera angle part of the identification. Since the screenshot first appears on the fifth guess, you spend half the game relying on deduction from the feedback grid.
Tips for a tighter solve
Developer is all or nothing: there is no yellow step, while a green match narrows the field to a single studio’s catalog. Treat it as a high-value confirmation.
A yellow on Platform signals the same console family. If you see yellow on PS2 and the answer runs on PS4, that confirms hardware lineage and can be as useful as an exact match.
The screenshot unlocks on the fifth guess and becomes clear only on the eighth. By then, the last two guesses offer no new information from it, so tighten the Year and Rating ranges first.
Year and Rating both have arrows and five-unit tolerance. Two well-spaced guesses are usually enough to lock the answer into a decade and a rating band, then use Genre, Perspective and Game Mode to refine from there.
