What is Scenedle?
Scenedle is a daily image-guessing game across five media universes: movies, TV series, anime, video games, and music. Each puzzle starts with a blurred image that clears with every guess. Wrong answers unlock five categories of clues—GENRE, ERA, ORIGIN, STARTS, and WORDS—displayed under the image. You have six attempts to identify the scene.
How to play Scenedle
- Choose a universe from the dropdown at the top or from the Today column on the right. Movies is selected by default.
- Study the blurred image in the center of the board.
- Enter your answer and click Guess.
- The image becomes slightly clearer after each guess, whether your answer is correct or not.
- After each wrong guess, one of five clue categories unlocks to help narrow the options.
- Click Skip to move on, or switch universes to play the day’s five puzzles.
Why the blur and clue system work
The blur recedes with every guess, so the game always moves forward even when you are wrong. Wrong answers unlock context—genre, era, origin—turning mistakes into useful information rather than dead ends. The five-universe structure turns a single puzzle into a daily tour, with a completion counter that tracks progress across all categories. A training round is available on the welcome card before you start the day's puzzles.
Reading the feedback
The board says “6 guesses to solve it” above the input field. Beneath the image are five locked clue headings: GENRE, ERA, ORIGIN, STARTS, and WORDS. Each opens after an incorrect guess. The right-hand column tracks how many of the five daily puzzles you have completed. When you are offline, a banner says: “⚠️ You’re offline: already-loaded puzzles still play; new clues will load when you reconnect.”
Modes
Movies is the default mode and uses films. TV, Anime, Games, and Music each have their own daily puzzle. Music covers music videos.
The welcome card offers a Training Round with a classic scene. The footer links to Community and Create for player-created puzzles, as well as Rankings and Answers.
Tips for better guessing
Every guess clears more of the image, but only an incorrect guess unlocks a clue. A speculative answer still helps because it reveals more of the image.
The five headings show what information will become available. Decide whether your next guess should reveal more of the image or unlock a clue.
