What is Yearbook?
Yearbook is a daily web trivia puzzle that picks a random year between 1950 and 2025 and presents four chronological clues about events from that year. Players submit up to four year guesses, unlocking progressively more specific clues after each incorrect attempt until they identify the correct year.
How to play Yearbook
- Read the first clue, which is the vaguest of the four.
- Type a year into the input field and click GUESS to submit.
- If your guess is wrong, the next clue appears automatically.
- Continue guessing up to four times, once per clue, or stop when you reach the exact year.
Reading the feedback
After each guess, the game shows how close you were using color-coded feedback: exact year (?), one year off (?), within 5 years (?), within 10 years (?), or more than 10 years off (?). When the puzzle ends, you receive a letter grade. Guess the exact year on your first, second, third, or fourth try to earn A+, A, B+, or B. If you never get it exactly right, your grade depends on your closest guess: C+ for one year off, C for within 5 years, D for within 10 years, and F for more than 10 years off.
Tips for a better score
Use each guess to narrow the range rather than repeating similar years. Clues are ordered from vaguest to most specific, so later clues give more detail, but earlier correct guesses earn higher grades. Aim for an exact or near-exact answer on your first or second guess to secure an A-range grade. You have one guess per clue and four total, so make each submission count.
Why play Yearbook
Yearbook offers a quick daily test of historical and pop-culture knowledge. The format rewards precise timeline memory and gives clear grading based on how early and how close you land. It is a short, repeatable challenge that lets you track your ability to deduce a single year from progressively revealing clues.
