Chess.com Daily presents one chess tactic puzzle per day at /daily. Difficulty increases from Monday through Sunday. Each puzzle shows a position, a date, and a title, sometimes with a brief introduction.
How to play Chess.com Daily
- Open the /daily page and close the welcome window by tapping Ok.
- Study the position and determine how many moves the winning combination requires before touching any piece.
- Execute the combination on the board.
- Use the Hint button in the puzzle panel if you get stuck.
Count moves before moving pieces
The welcome window asks "How many moves does it take" for a reason. Calculate the sequence depth before dragging a piece. This mental count is the primary skill the puzzle tests, not pattern recognition alone.
The Monday puzzle is substantially easier than the Sunday puzzle. If you are new to the feature, start early in the week to experience the intended ramp.
Tips for solving the daily tactic
Use the difficulty curve as scaffolding. Monday positions introduce straightforward motifs, while Sunday positions layer multiple threats or require longer forcing lines. Approach each day knowing where it sits on that spectrum.
If you cannot find the combination within a minute or two, take the hint rather than guessing. The puzzle does not penalize hints, and revealing one move often clarifies the entire pattern.
