What is Costcodle?
Costcodle displays a single Costco product with its photograph, full name, and package size, then asks you to guess its price. You have six attempts, each returning only a directional arrow: orange down when your guess is too high, up when it is too low. The prices come from the Costco Food Database credited at the bottom of the page.
How to play Costcodle
- Examine the product card for brand, item name, and package size, all of which affect the price.
- Enter a dollar amount in the field and press Submit.
- Read the arrow feedback: down means the actual price is lower, up means higher.
- Narrow the range with each guess, using the arrows as your only information across six attempts.
Price the package, not the item
Costcodle tests knowledge of Costco's bulk pricing rather than general grocery costs. A 32-ounce cheese pack has no intuitive price until you have shopped that aisle. The six-guess limit combined with pure directional feedback creates a binary search puzzle. The challenge lies in how little your instinct narrows the field compared to methodical bisection.
