What is CourseGuessr?

Free browser golf geography game: identify real courses from satellite imagery and pin their locations on a world map. Daily five-course challenge plus themed, regional and country modes. No account required.

How to play CourseGuessr

  1. Open the site and start a Daily game or available free session. The interface shows the current round number out of five and the running score.
  2. Examine the displayed course view. Look for terrain, vegetation, water features, architecture, or surrounding landscape that might indicate a region or specific layout.
  3. Switch to the map panel and place a pin at the location you believe matches the course. Zoom and pan as needed to refine the position.
  4. Submit the pin. The game reveals the actual location, the distance of your guess, and the points earned for that round.
  5. Advance through the remaining rounds. After five rounds the total score is shown. Free play is limited to five games per month.

Scoring and map interaction

Points depend on the distance between the placed pin and the true course location. Closer guesses yield higher scores. The map uses a standard interactive interface that allows zooming and precise pin placement. Course data is drawn from an external golf-course source, so the views and locations correspond to real courses rather than generic scenery.

The Daily option presents a fixed set of locations for the day. Practice or additional free sessions follow the same five-round structure until the monthly free-game limit is reached.

Tips for more accurate guesses

Focus on distinctive course features first—coastal edges, mountain backdrops, desert scrub, or dense tree lines—before attempting to name a specific club. Regional climate and vegetation often narrow the possible continent or country more reliably than trying to recall famous holes from memory.

If two candidate areas look similar, compare secondary clues such as the shape of fairways, the presence of bunkers relative to greens, or the style of any visible buildings. A single careful placement is more valuable than a rushed pin, because each round allows only one submission.

Keep the browser session open if you plan to continue later in the day; progress and remaining free games are tracked locally for the current month.
