What is Farflung Game?
Farflung Game is an independent browser-based geography expedition. Each round presents five clues. For every clue you select one country on a world map and drop a pin. Multiple countries can satisfy a clue, yet rarer correct answers award more distance points toward a maximum of 500 km.
How to play Farflung Game
- Read the full clue and any scope notes that limit the qualifying countries.
- Navigate the map by dragging and zooming, then select a country. Confirm the displayed name.
- Wait until “Saving…” disappears and the Drop pin button becomes active, then commit the choice. An uncommitted selection can still be changed.
- In Classic mode each pin has a 60-second limit; opening an in-game panel pauses the clock after the save. Tabs left open do not pause it.
- After five pins, review the distances earned and the explanations for each outcome.
Scoring and rarity tiers
A correct answer earns one of five fixed distances: 40 km (Common), 55 km (Uncommon), 70 km (Rare), 85 km (Elusive), or 100 km (Farflung). Five maximum-tier answers total 500 km. Incorrect or skipped answers score zero. Timed-out rounds keep the last selection that reached the server. Rarity uses a pre-set editorial snapshot for the expedition and does not change after play begins.
Three ways to explore
Daily mode gives the same five prompts to every player, refreshed at midnight UTC. Guest play is unranked; ranked attempts require sign-in before starting. Unlimited mode offers repeatable five-round expeditions that stay separate from the daily leaderboard. Wander mode removes the timer, adds country search, and supports untimed study of the map.
Practical notes
The game runs entirely in the browser on phone or desktop and needs no download. Progress is saved on the server, yet the timer continues if a connection drops; resume recovers the last confirmed state. The catalogue covers 195 countries. This site is an independent edition and is not affiliated with the original Farflung game at farflung.game.
