Daily Tents and Trees is a logic puzzle from European puzzle magazines, presented here as a daily challenge. Each tree must have exactly one tent directly above, below, left, or right of it. Tents cannot touch, even diagonally. The numbers along the grid edges show how many tents belong in each row and column.
Use the edge numbers to place tents and check your progress. You can use Hint when you are stuck and Reset to clear the board. The button above the grid switches between the dated puzzle and free play mode.
Tents and Trees combines three rules that can conflict. Each tree needs one neighboring tent, every row and column has a fixed total, and tents cannot touch. A placement that satisfies one rule can break another, so the solution has to satisfy all three at once.
As you place tents, the puzzle tells you which rule was violated. Trees remain on green cells as the board fills, keeping the layout readable. A free-play board sits beside the daily puzzle, so a difficult round does not end your session.
The board validates in real time rather than at completion. Placing tents that exceed a row or column count turns the affected cells pink and displays a message below the grid naming the broken rule. This immediate, specific feedback keeps you oriented without requiring a final submission step.
Start with zeros and single-option trees
Rows or columns marked zero hold no tents, which eliminates every candidate in that line and often forces a nearby tree's tent to the opposite side. Next, handle trees with only one legal neighbor, then verify that your placement has not blocked the only available neighbor of an adjacent tree.
Once a line reaches its tent count, mark remaining cells as grass. This chain of deductions moves the solution forward without guessing. Remember that the no-touching rule is about spacing, not pairing—two tents cannot share a corner even if their trees are far apart.

Common questions
Can a tent sit diagonally from its tree?
No. Pairing is orthogonal only. Diagonals matter because that is where tents are forbidden to touch.
What do the edge numbers count?
Tents in that row or column, not trees.

No. The game is free, ad-supported, and part of the OIYO arcade with an achievements section.
