What is Geographly?
Geographly is a free daily web quiz that teaches world geography through six progressive stages: identify a country from its outline, pick its neighbors, match capitals, match flags, compare areas, and guess population. Each daily challenge awards XP, supports streaks and leaderboards, and includes territories alongside countries.
How to play Geographly
Open the daily challenge with Stage 1, where you identify a country from its outline. You get up to five attempts, with less XP awarded after each try. Then choose its bordering neighbors, match capitals and flags, compare country areas, and estimate the population.
Correct answers earn XP, while wrong picks cost it. Error-free rounds also receive a bonus. Completing every stage records your score, streak, and leaderboard position.
XP and scoring
A correct first answer in Stage 1 earns 50 XP; a second-try answer earns 40 XP, with the amount decreasing on later attempts. This stage cannot reduce your score below zero.
The neighbor, capital, flag, and area stages award 10 XP for each correct item and subtract 5 XP for each mistake. Completing one of these stages without errors adds a flawless-round bonus of 20 or 25 XP.
The population stage allows one high-value attempt. Your browser stores stage results and streak data locally.
Tips for higher scores
Identify the outline on your first attempt to get the full 50 XP in Stage 1. Be careful when selecting neighbors, since each mistake costs 5 XP and error-free rounds earn an additional bonus. The same penalty applies in the matching stages, where a flawless set earns an extra 25 XP.
