What is HeatMapQuest?

HeatMapQuest shows a heat map on a 3D globe and asks you to identify the statistic behind the colors. Each daily puzzle has four rounds. In weekly survival mode, you get five lives.

How to play HeatMapQuest

Choose “Daily puzzle” on the home screen. The globe initially shows one hemisphere, so rotate it to view the full map. Look at how the colors are distributed across countries and continents, then enter the statistic you think the map represents. Finish all four rounds to complete the daily puzzle.

Read the entire globe before guessing

The game asks you to rotate the globe at the start. A pattern that looks like population density from one angle may turn out to show internet usage or literacy rates when you compare Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Looking at only one hemisphere can lead you to the wrong conclusion.

Compare relative intensities rather than absolute shades. Dark red on a GDP-per-capita map means something different from dark red on a rainfall map. Notice which regions cluster together and which ones stand apart.

Modes and scoring

Daily puzzle gives you four rounds each day. Its label reads, “Guess the hidden statistic on the globe, in 4 rounds every day.”

Weekly Survival resets every Wednesday and grants five lives for the week. Each incorrect guess removes one life. The round continues until you lose all five lives or complete the week's set. You cannot retry until the following Wednesday.

The home screen displays a leaderboard and league standings alongside your profile and settings.

Strategy for naming the statistic

Eliminate categories that do not match the geographic pattern. If wealthy regions appear dark while developing ones stay light, think about metrics tied to industrialization or digital infrastructure rather than natural resources. If coastal nations cluster separately from landlocked ones, consider trade volume or port capacity.

Save Weekly Survival for a focused session rather than attempting it casually. One attempt per week means a careless guess cannot be corrected until the next reset.
