What is Number Crunch?
Number Crunch is a daily web puzzle where you click squares to increase their numbers and trigger pops. When three or more adjacent squares share the same number, they pop automatically. The goal is to clear the board or make all remaining numbers uniform in as few clicks as possible.
How to play Number Crunch
- Click any square to increase its number by one.
- Watch for groups of three or more adjacent squares showing the same number—they pop automatically.
- Continue clicking until all squares display the same number or the board clears.
- Remember that 9s wrap around to 1 when increased.
- Check your score, moves, remaining tiles, and streak after each puzzle.
Scoring and leftover squares
Each leftover square that remains on the board adds 3 points to your score. The game tracks your total score, number of moves, remaining tiles, and streak count. A results overlay appears at the end of each puzzle, giving you the option to restart or share your performance.
Strategy for fewer clicks
Plan your clicks to form matching groups rather than clicking randomly. Use the wrap-around rule to your advantage—turning a 9 into a 1 can sometimes create a match faster than incrementing lower numbers. Look for clusters that are close to matching and prioritize those areas. The fewer moves you use, the better your performance will be.
Daily format and tracking
Number Crunch offers one new puzzle each day. The site stores your streak and performance locally in your browser, so return to the same browser to maintain your progress record. The interface provides immediate visual feedback when groups pop, making it easy to see the effect of each click.
