What is Numbun?
Numbun is a logic deduction game that hides a secret number with all different digits. You guess numbers and receive feedback through two indicators: a plus sign counts digits in correct positions, a minus sign counts digits that belong to the number but sit in wrong positions. The number never starts with zero and never repeats a digit.
How to play Numbun
Choose a mode from the home screen: Daily Puzzle, Daily Case, or Quick Start for practice. Enter a number on the keypad that has no leading zero or repeated digits, then tap the checkmark to submit it and read the two-part feedback. Use the whiteboard and sortable history to compare guesses. Keep guessing until you find the secret number or reach the attempt limit.
Game modes
Daily Puzzle gives you 10 attempts to find a four-digit number. Daily Case starts with five guesses already entered and leaves you three attempts to solve it. Quick Start offers unlimited attempts and hints for practice. You can change the difficulty by adjusting the number of digits in the mode selector. Two-Player Game is coming soon.
Reading feedback correctly
Each guess returns two numbers. The plus counts correctly placed digits, the minus counts correct digits in wrong positions. A result of zero means none of your digits appear in the secret number. The feedback never identifies which specific digits it refers to. The game displays move count, hint usage, and elapsed time at the top of the board. Statistics track wins, streaks, completion times, and performance across modes.
Tips for solving faster
The two composition rules eliminate many candidates before you start. No repeated digits means each position draws from a shrinking pool, and the leading-zero ban narrows the first digit to nine choices instead of ten.
Use the integrated whiteboard to mark eliminations rather than mental notes or external paper. The guess list can be reordered to group related attempts and spot patterns.
Practice opening strategies in Quick Start where attempts and hints are unlimited before spending your limited budget on the daily grids. Cross-reference guesses with different digit sets to isolate correct values from correct positions.
