What is Scrandle?
Scrandle is a daily food-comparison game where two dishes from sports venues appear side by side with venue, year, country flag, photo, and price. You pick the one the crowd rated higher. The question is never which plate you would eat but which one other people scored better. The Daily gives everyone the same run: a warm-up bonus round where both picks count, then ten scored matchups. Random mode offers unlimited free play with safe mode and seed options. Supporters who donate on Ko-Fi unlock advanced filters, Super Scrandle, synced stats, and Friday developer commentary. There are no ads and no subscription.
How to play
- Choose Daily from the home screen. The countdown tells you how long today’s run remains open.
- The first matchup is marked BONUS ROUND! Pick either card; both count as superior, and the game moves on automatically.
- In each of the ten scored pairs, compare the venue, year, price, and photo on the two cards. Then click the dish you think the community rated higher.
- After your choice, the card locks in. The higher-rated dish is marked as superior scran, both cards display their rating percentages, and the round’s pip is marked won or lost before the next pair appears.
- At the end, you’ll see your score out of ten, the title you earned, and the community average for that daily. From there, share the result or open Stats.
- For free play, continue in Random. History shows your Accuracy, Perfects, Scran Level, and a calendar of past dailies.
Why play Scrandle
Play Scrandle if you enjoy modeling other people's taste rather than your own. The crowd behind the ratings has firm views on value for money, and a cheap pie at a lower-league ground can beat an expensive burger at a big stadium. It is also a tour of what actually gets sold at grounds and festivals across the world, one real photo at a time. Skip it if you want a puzzle with a deducible answer, because a matchup is a judgment call and the reveal gives you a percentage, not a reason. A Daily takes about three minutes, and Random runs as long as you like.
Reading the feedback
Each pick is graded immediately as a win or loss. Once you click, both cards lock. The higher-rated item is marked as superior scran, the other as inferior, and each card displays its community rating as a percentage. There is no partial credit.
Ten pips in the status bar show which rounds you have won or lost. After a few seconds, the next pair loads automatically. At the end, your score out of ten appears with a title, such as Unlucky Scranner for a score of six, alongside the community average for that day's game. In the opening bonus round, both cards count as superior.
Daily
Everyone gets one run per day: a BONUS ROUND! warm-up followed by ten scored matchups. Your score is out of ten, with a title and the community average. The home screen counts down to the next run, which arrives at 23:00 UTC.
Random
Random mode offers unlimited free play. Safe mode removes alcohol and cussing, Mensa mode guarantees unique items, and a seed lets you reproduce a set. Supporters can also choose advanced settings, including difficulty from Easy to Impossible, Item Ratings bands, Item Locations by region, and gimmicks such as WEBP, Mirrored, Obfuscated, and Price-Off.
Super Scrandle
Available to supporters, this daily mode starts you with 1,000 points. Wager on the scran you think is better. A correct wager pays 150 percent; a wrong one costs you that wager button. Every fifth pair is an Evil round, and you can use a Yellow Card to swap out an item.
History
View your Accuracy, Perfects, and Scran Level for previous days on a calendar, and open old daily challenges from there.
Judge the deal, not the dish. The price appears on every card because the crowd rates value, and an honest, generous plate at a fair price will usually beat a pricier, prettier one.
Use the revealed percentages to calibrate your picks. After each choice, both ratings appear, so pay attention to what kind of item scored 14 percent and what scored 5 percent before making the next call.
If pounds mean nothing to you, change the currency in Settings. The game warns that the conversion is not especially accurate, so treat the prices as rough.
Keep Evil Mode off until you regularly beat the community average. As the setting says, it exists to make the game more evil.
In Random, set a seed and share it for friendly competition. The same seed and options produce the same set of items. If you are playing with children or at work, turn on Safe mode in Random; it removes alcohol and cussing from the pool.
What am I actually guessing?
Which of the two items carries the higher community rating, not which one you would rather eat. After a pick, both cards reveal their percentage, and your own picks feed the ratings. The bonus round thanks you for voting.
How many rounds are in a Daily?
Ten scored matchups after a bonus round in which both cards count as superior. The end screen scores you out of ten and shows the community average for the same day.
Do I need an account?
No. Daily, Random, and History work without logging in. Login exists for supporters, who receive a code by email at the address linked to their Ko-Fi donation.
