What is SEQUE-NCD?
SEQUE-NCD is a daily number sequence puzzle where one term is missing. The board displays a short run of numbers with a question mark replacing one of them, an input field, and a SUBMIT button. You have three attempts to identify the missing value. The gap can appear anywhere in the sequence, not just at the end, which means the terms on both sides constrain your answer. A new puzzle appears every day at midnight.
How to play SEQUE-NCD
- Study the visible numbers and identify the rule connecting them.
- Type the missing number into the field.
- Press SUBMIT. You have three attempts total.
- Use the feedback to adjust your approach if needed.
Understanding the feedback
The game gives three verdicts. “Correct” means you found the exact answer. “Close” means your answer is within 10 per cent of the target: the rule is right, but the scale is off. “Wrong” lets you try again. A close answer tells you to keep the rule and adjust its magnitude.
Most sequence puzzles place the blank at the end, so you extend the pattern forward. SEQUE-NCD places the gap inside the run, as the help panel’s worked example with powers of two shows. You have to check the sequence in both directions. The terms after the blank can be as informative as those before it.
When your answer is close, adjust its scale before abandoning the rule. Check how the terms on both sides of the gap relate to each other; the blank may not be at the end. Use your three attempts to test one hypothesis at a time instead of guessing.
