What is Spectra?
Spectra is a daily colour deduction game that compresses RGB values into three single digits (0 to 9) instead of the usual 0 to 255 range. The answer is a triple like 7-4-5, and you have six guesses to find it. The target colour is hidden behind a question mark tile during play, so you cannot eyeball it.
How to play Spectra
- Adjust the R, G, and B channels with the ▲ and ▼ controls. Each starts at 5.
- Press GUESS to submit the three values.
- Your guess appears as three digits, with a colour strip showing the colour they produce.
- Use the feedback to refine your next guess. The colour indicators show distance: green means close, yellow means medium, and grey means far. The arrows show whether each value should go up or down.
- Narrow down the remaining possibilities and solve the colour within six attempts.
Reading the feedback
The feedback shows both distance and direction. Green, yellow, and grey indicate how close each digit is, while the arrow shows whether the answer is higher or lower. Grey means the answer is at least three steps away. For example, grey-up on 3 rules out 0 through 5 in that channel. A guess such as 3-3-3 can reduce the thousand possible colours to sixteen by putting each channel in a narrow range.
Start with 3-3-3 or 6-6-6 instead of 5-5-5. An off-centre guess makes the arrows more useful because yellow leaves fewer possible values on one side.
Treat red, green, and blue as separate channels. They do not affect one another, so solve three number puzzles in parallel. Grey is especially powerful: a gap of at least three removes a large part of the range in one guess.
The daily puzzle resets at midnight UTC. After solving, the results card shows your score (for example "Solved in 3/6") and offers a share button that generates a spoiler-free emoji grid. An Unlimited mode unlocks after completing the daily, letting you play additional rounds without waiting.
