What is World Clue?
World Clue is a web-based geography game that tests your ability to identify countries from clues, maps, and bonus challenges. It offers daily and weekly puzzles, custom practice rounds, a country explorer, and a searchable data explorer built from public datasets. The site is designed for players who want to learn country facts through play and interactive browsing.
How to play World Clue
- Press Play in the menu to start a Daily, Weekly, or Practice round.
- Use the provided clues, maps, and any Bonus Challenge that appears at the start of a country to narrow down your answer.
- Press Submit Guess to identify the country, or use Give Up or Reveal Country in practice mode.
- After each country or the complete daily puzzle, view Daily Results showing accuracy, time, and score distribution, then share or review your guess history.
Game modes
Daily: A daily country-guessing round with results and scoring. Competitive mode makes attempts eligible for leaderboards and season rewards but restricts use of external resources.
Weekly: A weekly puzzle that resets every Monday at 07:00 UTC.
Practice: Custom training games where you select fields, country pools, regions, or specific countries, optionally use the map during training, and view a training summary after completion.
Country explorer: An interactive tool for browsing country information outside of active rounds.
Data explorer: A searchable interface where you select countries and columns to view dataset values, percentiles, and map data.
Archive: A collection of past games available for replay or review via Play the archive.
Reading the feedback
After a round the game displays a Daily Results screen with time and accuracy metrics, a score distribution chart marked with your position, and options to share results or give feedback. Practice rounds show a training summary and statistics for accuracy and remaining items.
Competitive mode and Fair Play rules
Competitive mode allows daily attempts to count toward leaderboards and season rewards. When playing competitively you must not use Google, external maps, reference sites, AI tools, or World Clue features outside the active daily game. If you want to use those resources, disable competitive mode or play as a guest. Non-competitive players have one daily attempt per person.
Tips for better results
Pay attention to the Bonus Challenge that may appear at the start of a round. It often provides context that narrows the field of possible countries.
Use Practice mode to configure which fields and regions appear before training. You can also choose whether to display the map during practice.
Press Play in the menu to begin immediately rather than navigating through multiple screens. The site prioritizes quick access to active rounds.
If you play competitively, restrict yourself to the clues, maps, and controls inside the active daily game. Violating Fair Play rules disqualifies your attempt from leaderboards.
