What is FilmLink?
FilmLink is a daily film-connection puzzle that asks you to link two movies by clicking through the people who made them. You start with one film, select anyone from its credits—actor, director, composer—view that person's filmography, jump to another film that moves you closer to the target, and repeat. One puzzle per day, the same pair for all players, with your link count displayed on the day's card. The leaderboard tracks either fewest links or fastest time.
How to play FilmLink
- Open the day’s puzzle from the home screen by tapping PLAY TODAY’S PUZZLE or the card for the current day.
- Start with the film shown and click any credit: lead actor, director, or composer.
- Browse that person’s filmography and choose the film that takes you closer to the target.
- Follow the links until you reach the target film, then see how other players solved the same puzzle.
Scoring systems
FilmLink lets you compete for either the fewest links or the fastest time. The leaderboard records one metric at a time, so decide before you start whether you want to minimize links or finish quickly. A fewest-links attempt may take a more careful route, while a speed run may use extra hops. After you finish, the game shows both metrics and lets you compare your route with those of other players on that day’s puzzle.
Use the full credits, not just the cast
Every person in the credits is clickable. Directors and composers often have filmographies that actors do not, and clicking through a composer can connect films across genres or decades without requiring several actor links. When a behind-the-camera name gives you a shorter route, use it instead of sticking to the headliners.
Other modes
FilmLink’s Archive lets you replay puzzles you missed. Quick Match offers ranked 1v1 duels against strangers from the home screen or Multiplayer tab. Leagues are private competitions with friends, with daily standings on a dedicated tab. The home screen also shows the following week’s puzzles, with titles that suggest the pairing without revealing the films.
Tips for a cleaner path
The username is assigned automatically on arrival and you can start playing without signing in. The "Save your progress" button appears when you want to attach your results, badges, and leaderboard position to an account. The home screen states the game is free twice: "STILL FREE · ONE PUZZLE A DAY" and "FREE TO PLAY · NEW PUZZLE DAILY."
