What is MovieGrid?
MovieGrid is a web-based movie identification puzzle. Players click on-screen clues to reveal actor headshots, director images, and other film information, then submit guesses to identify the movie. The interface displays a remaining-guesses counter and includes a Give Up option if needed.
How to play MovieGrid
- Open the MovieGrid page and select a puzzle, such as today's Movie Pyramid.
- Click an actor or director name to reveal their headshot.
- Click additional clues to uncover more information about the film.
- Submit your movie guess while monitoring the GUESSES LEFT counter.
- Use the Give Up option if you cannot identify the film before running out of guesses.
What the interface shows you
The game provides immediate feedback through revealed elements. Actor and director clicks display headshots. Other clue clicks reveal additional film details. A numeric counter tracks remaining guesses, displayed as GUESSES LEFT: 9 or similar. A Give Up control appears on screen when you want to end the current puzzle.
Tips for smarter guessing
Click an actor or director entry first to see a headshot. This visual clue often narrows down the film significantly before you spend a guess.
Reveal multiple clues before submitting answers. Each clicked clue provides information without consuming a guess, so gather evidence before committing to a title.
Watch the remaining-guesses counter. Once it reaches zero, the puzzle ends. Plan your reveals and guesses accordingly rather than clicking randomly.
Game variants on the site
MovieGrid includes Movie Pyramid, Movie Reveal, and Movie Snake. They use the same clue-reveal mechanic, while their puzzle structures differ. Each tracks guesses and lets you reveal a clue before making another guess.
