What is Screenplaydle?
Screenplaydle is a daily film puzzle that tests recognition and memory in two phases. First, identify a movie from its cast list, revealed one actor at a time alongside genres and release year. Second, rank those same actors by how much dialogue they spoke on screen. Three challenges appear each day, each worth up to fifteen points.
How to play Screenplaydle
- Check the top banner for the film’s genres and release year. One cast member is visible, while four slots remain hidden.
- Enter a title in the search field. The line below the card shows the current point value for a correct answer.
- If you are stuck, press Skip. Each revealed actor lowers the Phase 1 value by one point, to a minimum of zero. The phase is worth up to five points.
- Phase 2 uses the same film. Drag the five actors into order, from most dialogue to least.
- Submit your ranking. Correct positions turn green and earn two points each. Incorrect positions turn red.
- Rearrange the red positions and submit again. Each corrected position earns one point. Then move to the next challenge.
Phase 2 measures something you rarely notice: who speaks the most. A character you remember as central may have fewer lines than a quieter supporting role. The ranking is based on dialogue volume, regardless of screen time or billing order.
Scoring and feedback
Phase 1 awards up to five points for identifying the film before all five actors are revealed. In Phase 2, each actor placed correctly on the first attempt earns two points; a correct placement after the second attempt earns one. The maximum is ten points, making each challenge worth fifteen points. With three challenges per day, the maximum daily score is forty-five points.
Green positions lock and cannot be moved. Red positions remain active until the second submission. Colors appear only after you submit.

Phase 1 (Guess the film): Identify the film from its cast, revealed one actor at a time. The genres and year appear from the start.
Phase 2 (Rank the actors): Rank the film's actors by dialogue volume in two attempts. Correct positions lock after the first attempt.
Tips for a higher score
Use the genres and year before looking at names. They narrow the list of possible films without costing points.
Wait before revealing actors. Each revealed name removes one point from Phase 1. If the first actor does not trigger recognition, see whether the year and genres narrow the choices enough to make a guess.
Do not guess at random. Your first submission is worth double, so placing an actor just to see which slot turns green costs half the points on every position you could have worked out.
Rank actors by their dialogue, not their poster billing or screen time. A prominent but mostly silent role belongs lower in the order.
